Does the franchise formula work today? Is traveling to the past the key to a great future? Discover the answers to these and more questions in our Atomix Review. Age of Empires IV , in more ways than one, is more of an evolution of what was seen in the second installment, leaving aside some of the characteristics that defined what we saw with the third title. One of the sections that makes more than this clear are the different single-player campaigns.
Body Exchange. Instead of finding us some kind of completely original narrative that is based on the historical events of a certain culture in a specific time, this title decides to recreate a series of moments that defined the course of various civilizations throughout the Middle Ages.
Thus, Age of Empires IV focuses its attention on the Normans and their various struggles to obtain and retain the crown of England; in the Hundred Years War that France fought against the English; in the march of the Mongols to the west; and in the formation of Russia after an invasion from the east. Although each campaign is built to offer a series of tutorials that explain the mechanics of the game, from the classics that we all know, to the new tools that are at our disposal, we are offered much more than just missions focused on teaching us to play.

Along with this, each chapter in the various campaigns feels unique. In very few cases the title presents us with a repeated situation.
Although the general objectives may be similar between them, the army you control, the problems that arise, the strategies that you will use, the maps in which the confrontations take place and many other elements will be very different throughout the more than 10 hours of content that this section offers us. Here we are presented with unique scenarios that have a great challenge and make the story very, very funny.
Age of Empires IV opts for quality over quantity. In spite of Relic's reluctance to speak about naval combat before to the game's release, naval combat is well-developed and makes island landscapes an exciting possibility in and of itself. There wasn't enough new content for six of the eight playable factions in this game.
As far as I can tell, they all play a little bit differently; distinct technology, troops, and landmarks are fantastic for creating an identity that evokes their historical inspiration and varied up how you optimize your economy. Imperial Officials roam about and collect taxes from all of your buildings to fund the Chinese government's gold mines.
